Being Alaska-based just means I already understand the PFD, the cost of living, and shift-work schedules without having to explain them first.
How should I think about my PFD each year?
It's easy to treat it as bonus spending money, but it's really a once-a-year opportunity to make progress on a goal — paying down debt, building an emergency fund, or funding a Roth IRA. We build a plan for it before it lands, not after it's spent.
Does travel nursing or seasonal work make budgeting harder?
